Tapioca

Post by Scott »

Hi, all!

It's been several days since my last bizarre question - so here we go!!!!

Does anyone know where to buy tapioca here in Luxor?? I have the name in Arabic script just don't know where to go!!!

Deal: If you help me find it -- I'll make some for you!!!!!

Best,
Scott

I'm not sure if you can get tapioca here. I know you can get semolina (Smeed). I normally get this from a shop that sells rice, or flour or lentils in the big brown sacks.
I'm pretty sure the word for tapioca is just tapioca in Arabic.

LOL! Can't be worse than 'green soup'!!!!!

Seriously, I had a friend write out the word in Arabic so I think I'm OK there - now just trying to find it!!!

Goddess, do you have a cake recipe that uses a mix of semonlina & regular flour??
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...

No I don't have a recipe - but sounds interesting!

I'm doing a bit of experimental baking this week - so I'll have a peep for a recipe and give it a shot!

Hey Scott, I was just in Alfa Market in Doqqi and I spotted tapioca in the Asian noodle aisle on the bottom shelf. They had the small kind one normally uses in baking and the large kind used in bubble drinks. Next time you are in Cairo you can pick some up.

They have it in Carrefour too beside the soy sauce and dried noodles. They have the little bead ones and the big pearl sized ones.

I think it was around $450 an ounce because it was imported
