On saturday we went to Hawes in Wenslydale its a lovely place and when there visited the cheese centre ended up with loads of cheese!!(shame xmas is so far off) with cranberries ginger blue wenslydale and of course "wallace and Grommit" specials - has anyone else tried wenslydale cheese? What's your favourite cheese?
[face=Comic Sans MS]I haven't had any Wendslydale cheese for a very long time but I do like it, but on it's own, not with all the bits. A piece of cheese and some semi dried apricots are wonderful, put them in the same mix - No Thank You.
Have you ever tried Japanese pickled ginger with cheese? mmm yummy. Works particularly well with a mild brie. [/face]

Oh dear poor Keefy -you could order some via the internet?? Or some kind soul visiting could bring a few morsels with them??
What are the local cheeses there like - I would imagine you could get a variety - I remember a "roumy" (not sure of spelling? cheese when I was there I found it a bit like a very mature permesan alright for cooking with though
I swear you all start talking about cheese just to annoy me!!!! Bloomin' Wensleydale!!! All nice and crumbly - why isn't there a single crumbly cheese in this country!!!
Pour a bit of bleach on it too - to whiten it up a bit?!??! Honestly! You really are so evil the lot of you!!!
Strange you say that about the cheddar in the freezer FAB, sometimes mine goes all watery and crumbly in there - and sometimes it's just perfect. I've given up trying to work out why some do and some don't - I just tend to make a lot of cheese sauce with the crumbly stuff.
I haven't had Wensledale for years - it was the only one that my parents would have in the house other than Lancashire. I seem to remember that my dad liked it grilled with apiece of bacon and a big chuck of bread
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave ............
you can't buy better than cheddar bought from one of the farms from the area - the main advantage is that they also sell scrumpy and let you have free samples - happy days
