Ive been here many times and always found the food to be excellent :yes my only bad experience was the cream seemed a bit iffy when i had a desert of apple crumble and cream.

The Lantern
I have used this on three occasions recently and cannot fault the Lantern. I usually rate a restaurant by awarding ten on the way in and remove points throughout the evening. On the last three occasions I have not removed any points.

Mrs. D. is known as a most volatile critic of Luxors restaurants, so if there is anything wrong the entire world will know about it !!

The New Lantern
To add to my previous review of this restaurant, I have to say that they produce the BEST filled rolls that I have EVER had in Luxor. They import genuine FRENCH BREAD, and fill them with such things as fresh smoked salmon and cream cheese. Their filled rolls cannot be beaten. They also do take-away rolls, useful for going to the airport etc. This is the only place in Luxor that I have found that serves French Bread rolls.

The Outstanding New Lanten
This is the best restaurant in Luxor with outstanding soups, excellent value main courses and sweets that are better than any local 5-star hotel. Our only small disappointment was the lack of a choice of wines, but the owners were willing to go out and get us decent reds for our next visits.
they seem to have started building a web site but so far there is no e-mail address or phone number for The Lantern. they also need a business card with one side printed in English and the reverse in Arabic so that taxi drivers know where its located in a side street. Can't wait get back to Luxor and eat there every night.
