I found this place to be excellent, maybe the last poster went on a bad day or something ?
Ive been here many times and always found the food to be excellent my only bad experience was the cream seemed a bit iffy when i had a desert of apple crumble and cream.
I have used this on three occasions recently and cannot fault the Lantern. I usually rate a restaurant by awarding ten on the way in and remove points throughout the evening. On the last three occasions I have not removed any points.

To add to my previous review of this restaurant, I have to say that they produce the BEST filled rolls that I have EVER had in Luxor. They import genuine FRENCH BREAD, and fill them with such things as fresh smoked salmon and cream cheese. Their filled rolls cannot be beaten. They also do take-away rolls, useful for going to the airport etc. This is the only place in Luxor that I have found that serves French Bread rolls.

This is the best restaurant in Luxor with outstanding soups, excellent value main courses and sweets that are better than any local 5-star hotel. Our only small disappointment was the lack of a choice of wines, but the owners were willing to go out and get us decent reds for our next visits.
they seem to have started building a web site but so far there is no e-mail address or phone number for The Lantern. they also need a business card with one side printed in English and the reverse in Arabic so that taxi drivers know where its located in a side street. Can't wait get back to Luxor and eat there every night.
been to the lantern on several occasions. and i am never disappointed. whether its a snack or a full three course meal they have it all. fresh exciting menu evertime. the host debbie nasa and her team give a first class service and nothing is to much trouble. there sunday lunches are to die for and unless you book you could be disappointed. but my all time favourite is debbies homemade chocolate cake. TRY IT YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED
i went last week to have a sunday dinner.it was the first time i had been.debbie was a perfect hostess, and nothing was too much trouble.the service was very good, and the food was of a high standard.i am going again today.well done debbie
