Good standard everyday type of food, this is the place to get your Sunday Roast and a few pork type meals as well . The two Johns are usually to be seen on the premises and both are very friendly and enjoy a chat with the customers. The surroundings are very pleasant and the place looks nice and clean. Alchoholic drinks are available, in addition another bar owned by the same people is on the same floor as the restaurant. The meal sizes are sure to satisfy the most heartiest of appetites.
This is a restaurant for big eaters. I dont personally eat there often as I only take small meals.
The food is basic and liked by many people. However presentation on the plate is non-existant,so if you like a meal that is nicely presented,go elsewhere. If you like a lot to eat, piled high on the plate, then it is the place to go.
On reappraising my post regarding J. and J's at Gaddis, perhaps I ought to have mentioned that from my 'personal' point of view, I am not happy about presentation. On speaking to a number of others, they apparently see nothing wrong with it.
However, I have no other criticism except the large portions (which obviously affect presentation) do nothing for me, but then I am a very light eater. A lettuce leaf, a sardine and a slice of tomato would constitute a meal in my case!
But these posts are here to generate debate and interest in restaurants in general; what do other people think?
Luxor isn't great for food and we personally struggled a lot of the time even following recommendations at this site. One of the worst problems is being ripped off compared to menue prices. As for John and Johns, we endorse the comments on this website and would add that it should be ranked much higher than some with better ratings. The owenrs are honest and won;t rip you off. It's not the most celubrious of venues but it's clean and has a nice atmosphere. Genuiinely recommended.
There are three restaurants at this hotel, the International Restaurant on the lst floor, and on the ground floor the Bamboo restaurant, and the Egyptian food only restaurant. Has a pork-product menu, bacon etc, and has two bars. All three restaurants are licensed for alcohol.
Good standard of food, clean toilets, good choice of drinks. These are an established set up in Luxor. I've eaten there for the past 5 years, every August!!
Big plus point is the football is shown in the adjacent bar.
