Egypt lies in the North Eastern corner of Africa and is bordered by Sudan, Libya, Israel and Palestine (Gaza Strip) and Luxor lies south of the capital Cairo in an area generally known as Upper Egypt.  Luxor is a town rather than a city and with the help of our street map you will easily be able to find your way around.

Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple lie on the eastern side of the river in the main part of Luxor but the remainder of the archaeological sites are on the West Bank.  With the exception of the Valley of the Kings which lies inside a canyon, the sites are relatively close to each other.

A new 'village', Ramla el Gezira has been built close to the ferry.  Few of the streets there are named but we have provided a sketch map of the area's hotels and restaurants so that you can find them.
