Have direct flights to Luxor increased at all?

I have been looking at direct flights to Luxor to avoid a 6 hour stop over in Cairo, caused by Egypt Airs cutting back on Cairo to Luxor flights. It's only 1 hour from Cyprus to Cairo, and 1 hour from Cairo to Luxor.... But the journey would be 8 hours in total for myself... I desperately would like to visit Luxor this Summer, but am not willing to stay couped up in Cairo Airport.... In 8 hours I could be in India.... I could fly to Germany and then on to Luxor, but it would be an overnight stop over... Does anyone know if Egypt Air will put their flights back to pre Revolution times, because I have many friends in Cyprus who want to visit Luxor besides myself, and are put off by the long stop over in Cairo..... It's not putting Luxor in a good standing! Even if Egypt Air did frequent flights to Luxor on 2 days a week it would help many visitors. I have to say though there is only Egypt Air that fly's the 1 hour flight from Cyprus 3 times per week....

I fear your pleas will fall on deaf ears as far as EgyptAir is concerned! Have you considered staying over in Cairo for a few days, and making the best of a bad job? Although it's a bit manic, there are some very interesting places to see up there.

Fly to Gatwick then forward to Luxor EasyJet 150 quid thereabouts.
Larnaca to Gatwick less than 50 quid, dirt cheap.

Life need not be difficult, bring Bacon....

Ps: Learning a few words of Chinese would be beneficial whilst here..

Sadly there isn’t much of a market between Cyprus and Egypt these days hence the cut backs. TUI have direct flights between Gatwick and Manchester to Luxor as does Egyptair but that doesn’t help your cause. Have you looked at going via Hurghada on a charter flight? Another alternative is via Athens.The problem is tourism is cut back during the hot summer months.

Shame there is no ferry service across the Mediterranean then a train might be a better option.

Thanks for all your replies, it does seem a problem! I had looked into Roll on Roll off Ferries that go to Alexandria, thinking I would take the car with me and drive down to Luxor, but the problem is Insurance Cover. No matter where you look problems arise. I even looked at transporting the car to Cairo and picking it up there and driving on, but like I say, Insurance cover then becomes a pain in the RRRRRR's.. I think I will still keep in looking, the idea of getting a flight to Hurghada looks interesting so I will investigate this way....Thank you all
