Re: Bigger Lock Required
Are there not laws to regulate misrepresentation in advertising? I really cannot see the point of this sort of tomfoolery, all it will accomplish is to attract a large number of disappointments, complaints and bad reviews!

Re: Bigger Lock Required
Remember when they held a Nile Cruiser in Quarantine Anchorage: [The specific, isolated location where a vessel is held while waiting for clearance] it's called.
When we left from Hurgarda 7 years past, got off at Gatwick the 3 of us all had Covid 'ruddy Chinese eating monkeys,
what next ?
Personally I love a Chinese takeaway after a night out, Gerrard Street always a favorite of mine.."Ne How"...
Ps: What on earth was I on last night @ 2.30 am ? Must have been nostalgia, that's my excuse anyhow!

I’m waiting for the Queen Mary 2 to sail down the Nile so I can book a room with a view. I’m sure AI will help!

Re: Bigger Lock Required
I'm reminded of the time, many years ago when I saw an article/review for a hotel in Luxor. Apparently all rooms had balconies overlooking the pool, it was only situated yards from the beach - and - you could spot dolphins swimming in the sea.
I'd stayed a number of times previously, and just rebooked at the exact same hotel, so you can imagine my confusion/amusement when I tell you it was the Emilio hotel they were referring to!

Mr Showcat never had a close relationship with the truth, did he? He once had us in 4 different rooms in one week, many years ago.

Re: Bigger Lock Required
I had Mr Shawcat eating from my hand in the end. He messed me around once too often so I maneuvered him into a position close to the main lift and gave him a telling off, speaking calmly yet raising my voice with each sentence uttered, so that hopefully Mr Emile would hear. Of course, all the reception staff were listening in. Mr. Emile didn't come out the office, but I was later invited to meet with him. I told him a few home truths about the drop in standards which lay in the poor management. A platter of Easter treats mysteriously appeared in my room the next day.Teddyboy wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 9:24 pm Mr Showcat never had a close relationship with the truth, did he? I actually liked the Emilio, it's location: close to the corniche and ferry, and also close to the souk and temple was ideal. I always felt comfortable and safe there. The first hotel I stayed at as a single visitor was in Little Britain area and I hated having the run the obstacle course of vendors, taxis, carriages, and general stray men all vying for my attention. I've never understood the attraction of that area, and never will, although I have been back and tried different hotels there over the years.
