As an avid follower of the holiday section of ROB I came across this interesting feature regarding a Nile holiday/cruise.

A couple booked a 2 week holiday with a company called Holiday Jets advertising on Facebook. The couple checked out the credentials and all seemed ok. They were ‘booked’ into a 5 star hotel in Hurghada The Jasmine Palace which showed elegant photos on the website. However en route they received notification that the hotel had changed and put into a dump The Royal hotel and spa. The photos looked disgusting.

When they boarded the boat The King of Thebes which was totally filthy and in a disgusting state. They asked to leave early but were told them it would be costly.

Briefly when they got back home they did some investigation and found the holiday website that had advertised ABTA wasn’t infact true.

Moral of the story is to check with the ABTA site to ensure agents are infact registered. On Facebook I’ve noticed quite a few Nile cruise holidays advertised

Many thanks crewmeal quite an horrendous story. It proves that unless you are wise to the events that can crop up booking over the internet, it is best to book through a dependable travel agent.
