A taxi being stopped by the authorities who asked for money and if you don't give us any we will take your license.
Sugar at a very minimum, but selling on the black market at 2.5 times the real price.
Voting takes place next week and if you vote you get a parcel if food, is that where the sugar is?
Cigarettes selling on black market for double the price.
Oh so pleased I do not live there anymore, what a state of affairs to be in

In October, I purchased my annual bag of sugar, 35 gineh. A couple of days ago the price was 55, but you had to be lucky to get one. Local men were running around with empty jars, hoping to be able to buy or borrow some of the addictive stuff, but unlike some foreigners I know who always focus on what is not available, they did so with big smiles on their faces.
As I have never smoked, I do not know the price of tobacco, but perhaps it is time to leave the country, so we can get us some sugar and cigarettes.

At the best of times it has always been difficult to work out what is the official common agricultural policy of Egypt. Earlier this year Russia guaranteed wheat supplies to six Africans nations, however, because of their friendship with the West, Egypt was not included. Evidently it has had to grow more wheat than usual in an attempt to fulfil the needs of the people, especially during the presidential election period.
With regards to sugar, the country normally produces two-thirds of its annual requirements, either in the form of cane or beet, the rest is mainly imported from Brazil. I find it very difficult to understand why this commodity price is so ridiculously high. When I lived there sugar was no more than 2.5LE. A soft pack of Cleopatra's 200's was no more than 18LE. Present day inflation there must be crazy.
It is evident that Sisi will be re-elected, so watch the out for new taxes, one I expect will be the introduction of a 20% tax on gold bar or as it is better known as bullion when selling. There are special rules already in place for anyone attempting to export gold.

Trouble is It's actually happening.....
So what does one do with a possibility of over a million people with nothing and nowhere to go except Egypt ?
There is no going back....the 'security border will extend to Raffah..
No doubt the USA will eventually fund and funnel money to Egypt....
But I can see that Egypt is in for turbulent times.
Then Israel will concentrate on that old hebrew wail
""From the Sea to the River & Beyond".....
and you can't argue with God 'can You. ?
"Gott mit Uns" now I wonder "Who said that ?.................
Ps: Beyond the river is Jordan with over 3 million displaced Palestinians, 'just a thought !
