18 years ago I had 6 huts on the Nile, £5quid a night...
16 years ago I went deep into the desert with our intrepid explorer/writer/nutter "Twiggers" looking for something...
We found it as shown below, mind you many other fine things were revealed to us on that desert trip...
So 11 years ago I read Roberts' book The Red NIle...

I am rereading it quite amazing his knowledge, especially about Nile Elephants.
He once built a birchwood canoe and sailed the great lakes, totally nuts, but fun...
