Re: At last!!
If I remember right they operated this service some years ago. At that time I wrote a letter to the management saying that in my humble opinion they were being a bit ambitious operating 5 flights a week. Far better to operate just 2 flights a week. That service did not last long and they must have lost a lot of money.

Re: At last!!
I wish they would restart the Manchester to luxor flights, it would make the trip a whole lot easier

In my letter to the management I did say it would be better to operate 1 flight a week to Luxor just like Heathrow and 2 flights a week to Cairo.

Re: At last!!
The only trouble with this is that Manchester Airport has the most awful staff I've ever come across! Horrid, rude, arrogant......I could go on for quite a while.
In my opinion, they'd get many more takers if they flew from Newcastle, our Metro rail system runs from the Central Station right into the airport.

Re: At last!!
Interesting! I regularly read in another forum, completely unrelated to Egypt, about issues passengers have at Manchester Airport, especially at the security screening. I had put it down somewhat to the characters complaining, as some of them tend to write in fairly negative format much of the time.

Re: At last!!
My beloved was once instructed to take off her thin Marksy's cardigan (under which she wore only a light vest over her underwear) whilst a niqab wearing Muslim woman, shrouded in all her black stuff, was being allowed straight through!
You can imagine her response? We haven't flown from Manchester since!

I have nearly always flown from Manchester and never had a problem, always found the staff helpful and polite.

I'm really pleased that others' experiences haven't echoed our own, as well as astonished!

Thought it was too good to be true. These flights are not direct. You either have to change at Munich or Frankfurt. And neither are they cheap. The cheapest I could find was £647. It looks like for the future the best way to get to Luxor and by far the cheapest is to fly to Hurghada.

Re: At last!!
Interesting. I got the info from a reliable source at Manchester. But I have to agree nothing bookable on the Egyptair website. Usually they make a song and dance about a new route as they did with Dublin.

Re: At last!!
This is going to be very interesting to say the least. As I have previously stated they tried this flight some years ago in fact it was 10 years 2013 and it failed with huge losses. EgyptAir seem to be gluttons for punishment. However I am keeping my fingers crossed that maybe this time it is a success.

Re: At last!!
A lot will depend on the fares they charge. Whilst offering connections at Cairo to the rest of the country, TUI Easy still win with cheaper fares. However Egyptair don't charge for extras and provide a full meal service for free. It depends what folk want.
My problem will be getting to the airport via Trans Pennine, that in itself is another story!!!

Re: At last!!
With regards your comment about all depending on the fare they charge have just looked at a flight going out on the day the service starts. This is Saturday July 15th. So typed in details for flight out July 15th return Saturday July 29th. The fare quoted a massive £859.17p. Not a good deal in my humble opinion.

Re: At last!!
Gordon292 - you've booked at the most expensive time. I did a check for 2 weeks towards the end of October and it was £480 return. Luxor worked out around £750.
The more you check fares the higher the price. That's the same with all carriers.

Re: At last!!
I had not experienced this with Egyptair until earlier this year, when clearing my history reduced the price with 40%!

Well done Egyptair. Shame about the 90 minute delay today. Not good for the Luxor connection
