Hi Peeps,
It's been an incredibly long time since I posted on here and a very long time since my last visit,
The main reason for not doing my my usual twice yearly visits is the non existent direct flights to Luxor from Manchester. does anyone know if there will be direct flights in the near future?

It seem Egyptair are concentrating on the Spanish market with more flights from Madrid and other cities. I doubt very much whether Manchester is on their radar just yet. Not even the British charter carriers fly to Luxor, just concentrating on the resorts. But never say never these days.

With regards flights to Luxor I am on a mailing list which keeps me informed about any increase or decrease in flights from Heathrow to Luxor with EgyptAir. Just received the latest up date and just could not believe what I was seeing on screen. In fact I had to pinch myself to see if I was awake or dreaming. Flight to Luxor from Heathrow direct Monday January 30th return February 27th £1,066. Absolutely ridiculous.

Two points here. Firstly have you just looked for the flight tomorrow? If so you will pay maximum fares for such short notice compared with booking well in advance. I've just checked tommorow's flight to Cairo using a cheap airline site and Egyptair want £869 return to Cairo.Flight to Luxor from Heathrow direct Monday January 30th return February 27th £1,066. Absolutely ridiculous.
Secondly the sinking Egyptian pound will affect fares with Egyptair.

This is very much true what Crewmeal says here. Years gone by, I would call in at their London shop, off Regent Street, every other day the price would change. As a regular customer with Egyptair they would often pull me an agency price from the likes of Saga, who used that airline for their customers. These were much cheaper than the normal schedule price,.........but that was then.crewmeal wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 9:34 amTwo points here. Firstly have you just looked for the flight tomorrow? The latest update I refer to was sent to me 3 days ago January 26th and was timed at 6.10pm. So it was certainly not a last minute search for a flight direct to Luxor from Heathrow with EgyptAir. It used to be my favourite airline but not any more.

If you cannot get to Heathrow easily, then flying into Luxor can be a real chew-on!
From the North, we now find it much much easier, and convenient, to fly direct from N/cle to Hurghada and bus it across the desert the next day. The cost isn't much different from us travelling via Heathrow, but it's a lot less stressful, which suits us down the the ground as we get a bit older.
