Comments from yesterday on Egyptair twitter:
1. hi, one of my friends daughter traveled from Egypt on 14th Aug, she have lost her baggage and have not received the same at Cairo airport. Pls do the needful as we have tried very much to trace the baggage have not rcd any reply.
2. EGYPTAIR takes no Responsibility for the Lost checked in baggage. It’ been 14 days now but haven’t received yet.
3. It has been 13 days since i lost my baggage. I have my essential items in my baggage without which i am having a lot of struggle…
4. I'm still waiting on a response from the baggage department re my suitcase. It's been 4 days since you told me someone would contact me and I'm already waiting 2 months for my bag. Nobody is locating my bag. I can't work because I need work documentation in that bag!
5. you guys lost three of our suitcases on a flight and no one has lifted a finger to help find them.
6. HI, WE HAVE JUST RECEIVED 1 BAG STILL, 1 MORE BAG IS REMAINING.

I doubt that missing bags is unique to Egyptair, nor the lack of apparent response or action. In deed, I know from personal experience that it isn't.

Surely the barcode you’re given at checkin should say where your luggage is. I checked mine from Heathrow to Luxor via Cairo and was concerned my luggage wouldn’t make it. On checking at Cairo the agent told me it was on the domestic flight to Luxor.
I’ve also invested in an AirTag but it’s limited. It doesn’t work when you’re sitting on the aircraft hoping your bags are underneath. My AirTag showed it to be in a container adjacent to terminal 2!!
