That sounds right to me. When I was in Luxor for a 12 week stay, I had to go to the office on Passport street during the 4th week to extend my visa to 3 months.

I went with Carol (Carrie) of course, and the first time we went she advised me to give the woman a small baksheesh, but carefully so that the manager didn’t see - he would have taken it from her! No problem, slipped it into her hand on the quiet. The following year I went again and her face lit up when she saw me! “Ah Madame, welcome back, good to see you etc etc etc” I never had any problem getting a longer visa!!

The “ visa on arrival” is 30 days.

Depending on your circumstances, you can extend this, by applying at the visa office, for periods up to 12 months. Don’t ask me the rules….they are beyond obscure.

After 12 months you are required to leave the country for a day….and the process starts all over again.

People over 60, who don’t require a visa for any other purpose ( bank, car, telephone account etc) often don’t bother extending their visa as there’s no fine for such people when they eventually leave.

Finally, it’s possible to apply for a 90 days multiple entry visa online, or from the embassy in London….but each visit is limited to 30 days".

Thankfully, my PA sees to all that, but I thought that the 'Visa on arrival' had always only been for 30 days.
(Or is the good Dr. following A-Four's practice of posting when slightly the worse for wear?)

I've never had a problem with my visa's even the 'little nazi loved me finally.
or entering or leaving the country, I get more problems this side being honest.

I loved popping in after a month, chat with the old coppers on the door,
and the son of (my little nazi) Ahmed i think.

Hit the shops, chat and buy loads of books from old Mr Abuodi (all three of us had Jeeps)
Then into the usually empty bar in that hotel opposite, when we used to visit the office,

Stan and I made a habit of it, and him always complaining at the price of their beers..
Stan complained about most things !

You could land by motor boat at the back of the hotel and return the same way..
They stopped that even ignoring 'a bit o baksheesh'..lol..

Same easy exercise is carried out when Saturday shopping, being collected from the Sunset Bar
opposite the 'meat factory'. Mercure ?

Top Tip: "Visa office Saturday's always empty....

Another Tip: It's nice floating down the Nile or up for that matter.... 8)

Ps: Finished the water book, highly recommended reading.
