In his latest rearrangement of the Titanic deck chairs, Sisi has replaced Khaled El-Anani with Ahmed Issa as Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.
El-Anani was an eminent Egyptologist whilst his successor Ahmed Issa held the position of CEO of Retail Banking at Commercial International Bank since 2016. He also served as a member of the Executive Management Committee of the Commercial International Bank, and a Chairman of the Banking and Finance Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo.
So it seems the emphasis may be switching from exploitation of Egypt’s unparalleled historical attractions to…..well, your guess is as good as mine.
Those Disneyesque ideas ?
Developing the tourist resorts of the Red Sea and Mediterranean Coast?
Who knows.
New Minister of Tourism and Antiquities
