Carrie
Hi folks, I’m a bit concerned about Carrie. We’re usually in touch through Face Book messenger most days, but she hasn’t checked her messages since early evening last Monday, and she didn’t answer when a friend in Luxor called her today. Have any of her West Bank friends/members had contact with her this week? Please would any member who lives near her send me a PM? Many thanks.

It was her Birthday on Tuesday 1st March so maybe she's gone away for a few days to enjoy herself (social media free)

Re: Carrie
Have not seen Carrie here on the West Bank since we arrived 5 weeks ago. Unusual as we would normally see her in the village every week or so. Unfortunately do not have her number or know her exact address but others might.

Such sad news. Although we did not see much of her, she was always good company. And she loved her life here.
Rest in peace Carrie. So sorry Yildez

Re: Carrie
I’m extremely upset, as you can imagine, although I was convinced something was seriously wrong by Wednesday. The news was not really a surprise, I knew deep down.
Carol was a lovely woman, straight forward, down to earth, wicked sense of humour, and a wonderful friend. We met in 2010, and had many adventures in both Egypt and Turkey. We narrowly escaped being arrested at gunpoint at Abydos, and were told off very severely by security guards at the antiquities on several occasions. She was planning to visit me again this summer, and I’d already started to plan some trips for us - sadly that won’t happen now. As I type I’m raising a glass to her, although she always preferred a nice cup of English tea to alcohol, bless her.
RIP Carol

Re: Carrie
Yes, that sums her up perfectly. You had some wonderful adventures. Do you have any contact details for her son? I've raised a cup of Earl Grey tea to her. Take care my dear.

Re: Carrie
Thanks Moonstone. She had a son,and a daughter, but I’ve no contact details. I think her daughter lives in a very isolated, rural area, inland from Folkestone, but I don’t know her surname. I’ve emailed Nasser with their names.

Re: Carrie
Sad news indeed.
I can't say that I knew Carrie, although we have had a little communication over the years. Some years ago she organised a trip to Garagos that I joined in with, so was able to spend some time that day, and a meet up for a cup of tea a few days later, for a little quality face to face time.
Yildez, I know you will miss her very much and I send my condolences to you. Thinking of you, and sending you a comforting hug.

Re: Carrie
So very sad to hear about a good friend.
My only hope is that she passed away peacefully. We had a conversation one time regarding some of the expats that had suffered before passing in the local hospitals here..
She told me...I'm not frightened of dying...just the way I die..I never want to suffer or be a burden to anyone..
RIP lovely lady
