I understand that Egyptair from 27th October are to start a weekly service from Sharm to Luxor at a cost of LE 1,800 (or about $120), round trip. The idea being it will attract international tourists to visit the Nile Valley.
There are also revised plans to build a railway from Sharm through to Qinna, and then on to Luxor, but I think we have heard that one before. The government has also added that cash has already been set aside for this project,........again, I think we have heard that one also.
Once a week.....so either a very early flight for a rapid day trip....or a week stay.
Can’t imagine either being of much interest to the typical Sharm tourist. Nor do I envisage the typical elderly Luxor visitor fancying a day trip to the beaches of Sharm.
I suspect this idea will suffer the same fate as the Hurghada-Sharm ferry....i.e it won’t get off the ground
