So it's quite surprising that Egypt needs to 'hand out it's begging bowl,
to fill up that bloody great space called The New Grand Egyptian Museum.

They have tons of stuff just lying around all over the place down in the basements
of my favorite museum,....
that charming & unpretentiously named Egyptian Museum of Antiquities.

Lets hope, our very own British Museum tells them to 'imshee right off. p.d.q.... 8)

Ps:The total estimated project cost is US$550m, US$300m of which will be financed from Japanese loans, the remaining will be financed by the Supreme Council of Antiquities and other donations.

It's that bit 'donations that gets me....

The original cost of the Grand Egyptian Museum was estimated to be around $500 million, but delays, changes, and other factors have driven the final price tag for the complex to over $1 billion.....hence the begging bowl.

There’s no shortage off stuff lying around Egypt in warehouses etc . And they’re digging more out of the ground at Saqqara.

Of course they’d love a few “capital” items returned....not a load of Coptic manuscripts.

Hawass still eyes the Rosetta Stone and bust of Nefertiti with envy.

Dream on Zaki.... :vs
