Cheap Wine..

For the last 6 months I have been sampling cheap red wines, anything under a £5 fiver..
If one scans the bottom shelves of M&S, Waitroses, ect one can find their own brands..

After drinking 1 bottle a day of Cleopatra, I am well versed in cheap wines..
So, my favorite is the Co-Op Spanish Red with Tempranillo & Monastrell grapes @ £4.50 per 75cle.

These bottom shelf wines always outdo any Egyptian wine by miles.
Trust me I'm a bit of (or was) a wine cognoscente, now I'm poor...

'Needs must and the devil rides'....
So forget that Château Latour Grand Vin Pauillac 1996 @ £1,250 or even the the Popes'
'Cuvée du Vatican Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2019 @ £24 quid and check out the bottom shelves.

And her indoors is moaning about her wages this week, only £500 quid..
Now, just where is that lump of 4'x2' ?....someone needs some sense knocking into them... 8)

Ps: She, er indoors said 'what about white wines ?
Me: Forget it! Unless, it's a ‘Le Montrachet’ is ‘le vrai Montrachet’! that's French for:
"Le Montrachet" is "the real Montrachet"!

@Who2

A bottle of cheap red plonk every day?

I don’t know why you’re always banging on about the dangers of catching Covid -19.

I doubt the virus could survive the levels of alcohol in your body

We used to buy 5 litre plastic containers of wine from Trogalites down in the Province.
They didn't pay any tax, and we didn't pay any customs, that's a land rover l.w.b, full of plastic containers.
And the wine was ok..
Mind you, a few years later the customs man down in Dover nicked my little 'ol Alpine Renault.
Cost me £700 quid fine, and that's when £700 quid was £700 quid!
The Alpine cost me about £3.5k, ? 'obviously no tax for export from Renault's Champs-Elysées gaff,
they wined & dined me for 2 weeks. 'Now that's service.. 8)

Ps: And on a lighter note:
I have just obtained brand new security footage from the White House's bunker..ssh!

£4.50 is more than the 3 liter BIB of Garnacha Tempranillo that I found at a supermarket in Copenhagen last week and less than I pay for a can of handcrafted beer. I do not drink much wine in Egypt, a beer if I am thirsty, but as I am busy discovering fantastic new releases from innovative Danish breweries, sampling local Christmas brews this weekend, I can hardly enjoy a Carlsberg anymore and I wonder how a Saqqara or Stella under the palms shall taste after so many months with quality beer.
:br
Back from gourmet shopping (knowing how to get huge discounts on everything) - ready for today’s choice with Gruyere and white truffles on delicious crackers from Barcelona:

”A deep double dry-hop of Strata and Idaho-7 brings out parallel layers of passionfruit, tropical cannabis, and pineapple.”

I miss Egypt very much, but there will be a huge collection of interesting beers waiting here for me next time, I leave Luxor - just in case I shall have to self isolate.
