long term visits

Post by Annie »

I plan to stay for between 3-6 months at a time. There used to be a rule that if you were there for 3 months or more you had to return by scheduled airlines. Is this still the case? I can't find any information online.

Yes....

After 3 months or 12 weeks or 84 days only scheduled flights. Ministry of Civil Aviation, Policy & Procedures Manual, Part 607, Non-scheduled flights regulations, Issue 6, Revision 0 of January 2018. Policies like this are in place for many, many countries in the world such as Europe, USA, Canada, Australia etc. etc. It is not an Egyptian invention.

Don't understand the above at all, but nearly every flight Iv'e ever seen has to be scheduled, If not then you must have your own private jet. Forget 'policy & procedures it's all total bullsh*t... 8)

Scheduled - Charter.....it’s a technical issue not related to chartering a private jet!

A scheduled flight means that tickets to this flight are sold via various sales channels around the world. Scheduled flights may have connection flights. Charter flights, on the other hand, are bought from the airline by a tour operator. These are so-called package vacations, although nowadays one can also just as easily book a seat on a charter flight.

The underlying issue here involves whose commercial risk a given flight is. A scheduled flight is an operating airline’s commercial risk, while a charter flight is its tour operator’s commercial risk.

Many, if not most, of the commercial flights which operate out of Hurghada and Luxor are Charter flights.

For example, of all the flights out of Hurghada, I think EasyJet is the only scheduled operator.
