Does anyone know the results on the referendum on the leadership being extended by 10 years. I know the turnout was very low, but did the food handout packages (Moreso on the West Bank) on the day get more voters to turn out?

Went past one of the voting stations the other day, a tourist was there taking photos , no doubt wondering why there were lots of police carrying machine guns outside a school. Police where not happy and soon moved her on. Didn't spot the elusive voters.

Typical, wonder how many people who did not vote got their votes submitted by others.

Apparently, the European media have given a quite detailed response, it appears that nearly 90% of Egyptian voters have approved the constitutional changes, which will make it possible for President Sisi to continue, without much trouble until the year 2030.

It's only when you get to Reuters take on the proceedings that we discover only 44% of the electorate took part, also the referendum result increases the power of the military and a change in the elected power of the judiciary.

Reuters also inform us that an 'effort' was made to 'boost' the turnout, voters were driven to polling stations, and given food parcels and vouchers.

I am looking forward to my visit to Egypt this Autumn, therefore I make no comment. :wi .
