Private hospital in Hurghada warned against tests for patients with dengue.
The dengue fever crisis in the Red Sea cities has entered its third week since the Health Ministry announced the epidemic, discovered though test results of a mysterious virus that had infected thousands of citizens in the city of al-Qoseir.
Private hospital officials in Hurghada received instructions from the Red Sea Health Directorate to not conduct or announce the results of any tests or analyzes of patients with dengue fever, and to provide only treatment and temperature measurement.
Hundreds of people in Qoseir city were reported to be infected with dengue fever, late last month. People prevented their kids from going to schools in the city at the beginning of the school year fearing they may get infected.
The Health Ministry has said that no deaths have been reported from the fever, and that most of those infected with dengue suffered from high body temperatures, headache and muscle pain. All previous patients with the fever left the hospitals in good health.
Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Dr Khalid Megahed, said on Sunday that dengue fever had spread only in the Red Sea governorate due to the tin used in drinking water storage of the residents.
80 percent of tanks are covered with tinplate lids, which erode over time and leads to the growth of dengue fever carriers such as mosquito larvae.
These larvae are called Aedes aegypti and grow in drinking water, Megahed explained, recalling that the Assiut governorate was infected with Aedes aegypti in October 2015, but that all infected persons had recovered.

Dengue is a problem - treatment is far from fully effective. Eradication of the threat is very hard.
Major Thom - be warned its pervasive in Queensland - particularly North Queensland, so stay away from Australia and Egypt.
Usually its found in wet, tropical, humid environments so if its on the Red Sea coast that comes as a surprise. Its invariably spread by mosquito bites so a hot, dry, desert environment isn't the first place to find it - but I'm sure the Egyptian Ministry of Health knows what it is doing after its many past successes in public health.
If I were them I'd be calling in the World Heath Organization or the American (Imperialist) Center for Diseases control for a second opinion. Relying on their new Russian friends and the Russian health service may not be the best move.

Alas....no-one told the little buggers hereabouts
The plethora of poorly-covered water tanks provide ideal breeding grounds and many a Red Sea tourist complains bitterly of being bitten to death....at least those not confined to their rooms with gippy tummies.

What I am seeing here in the U.K. is that patients are requesting pain killers by trade name rather than knowing anything about their power, iwhich are in more ways than one highly dangerous. I remember in my time in Egypt ex-pats and Egyptians alike, took the most powerful antibiotics (Augamenton 1gm) thinking it would relieve the symptoms of the common cold, when in effect they were taking antibiotics capable of clearing up the early symptoms of Gonorrhoea.
As some people on here may already know the pain killer Tramadol can no longer be available on repeat prescription, and now it seems that even Co-codamol 15/500mg tablets will follow suit very soon, therefore D.F.118's for sure will also be included.
It has been discovered, rather late in my opinion, that people are bypassing the early remedy for simple pain relief, and DEMANDING Tramadol as a first line of pain killer, without realising that they are highly addictive when taken in this fashion.
The latest thing I am hearing in the medical world is that many City firms her in London are demanding that their staff have flu injections, to protect 'them' through the winter, what a joke. Even people over 60 years old should only have this injection if they are regarded as vulnerable.

As flu strains and the common cold virus are rarely a problem once the body has built up resistance to any particular strain or variant through infection or inoculation, I cannot see what your objections could be? Each year the WHO select what they consider will be the most prevalent forms of the influenza virus and add them to a cocktail of others they predict may also become epidemic in some form. Contrary to popular belief the viruses uses are not live strains, but human exposure to the dead virus will usually promote a reaction against it and will therefore make you either immune to that particular strain or at least lessen the symptoms if you did contract it. To my knowledge (and no this is not gleaned from Wiki) that is how vaccinations work, the problem as always is guessing the correct strains and mutations that will be prominent in any particular period to include in the vaccination and not all can be covered by one single jab, some years they get it right and in others they don’t. Personally I would much prefer to have some sort of protection against the Winter Flu outbreaks that we always get and no doubt many can remember the ‘Asian Flu’ and the ‘Hong Kong Flu’ both of which turned into the far worse pandemics that killed thousands and not forgetting the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918 that killed millions.

The annual autumn controversy over flu jabs is as regular and predictable as the incidence of flu itself.
Scientific opinion is rarely 'black & white' on any topic and the subject of flu jabs is no exception. As with, say, climate change, there will always be those, sometimes eminently qualified, who will have a view contrary to the mainstream. But make no mistake, the preponderance of medical/scientific opinion is that flu jabs are, on balance, worth having.
If one has a libertarian outlook, then one should be free to exercise one's choice NOT to have the flu jab. This is the option for most UK workers outside the healthcare field. For a company to force jabs on an unwilling employee is fraught with legal complications the cost of which could far outweigh the cost of the work days lost by flu-sufferers.
But, in declining to have the flu jab, people should weigh whatever their fears/objections are against the selfishness inherent in an act which could help spreading an infection to the detriment of others.

I agree, having the vaccination should be a personal choice although I reckon that the efficacy of these vaccinations is well known so fail to see the objections if they are freely available. We have in recent years had some people claiming that certain children’s multiple vaccinations have led to other issues, whether these children would have been affected regardless of the multiple vaccination is another matter, but it should still be down to parental choice. Through our lives and certainly if we have travelled the world then we have all benefited from the protection given by vaccination, take the case of Smallpox once a prevalent killer even in Europe that was some time ago deemed by the W.H.O. (not the group)

to have been eradicated worldwide although I think a few isolated cases have reappeared recently. So on balance if I were to be told that each year someone would fire 10 bullets at me, but if I chose then 5 of them would only be blanks, I know which option I would choose.

When the first bat showed itself I attempted to waft it away thinking that it was an ant, ants that quite regularly go walkies across the screen while I'm using it.

But I just checked. I don't have animated sprites, Guy Fawkes, Father Christmas or Snow Flakes enabled. So why the wallpaper?

We all know there are many problems in the world, but I can not see for the life of me how a background which is mostly covered by the forum can be a problem for you, the only thing I can be sure of is, thank **** im not your friend.
