Luxury break anyone

As I'm alone with the cat for a few weeks I thought I might treat myself to a bit of luxury at El Gouna - La maison Bleue. I've often passed in on the way to the kite surfing beaches.
It is lovely....but costs around 350 English quid a night.
I'm not saying it's not worth every penny, but feel there's many other places in the world i'd rather see for that kind of money.
Ah well.......

And I don't blame you, a little bit of pampering and luxury now and again does you no harm,

enjoy your break
PS Who is looking after the cat?

I had a pretty good time there but it was only £18 quid a night breaky included.
So good any time I fly from Hurgharda I spend a few days there acclimatising.....
Ps: Plus there is a butchers there that sells all sorts of porky products, cleverly entitled The Butchery.

I've got the pool guy-cum-gardener well trained.
That's the beauty, and convenience, of having a cat rather than a dog. As long as someone's there to replenish the food/water, and a window left open so it can come & go at will, it doesn't give a toss whether or not I'm in residence
Incidentally, the windows have grills - big enough to allow the cat to get in, but nothing larger! As for stray moggies....my cat wouldn't let them within 20 metres of the place

I agree with you about the moggy, mine doesn't care either just so long as someone feeds her she isn't too fussy as to who gets the job

I fear people are getting the wrong impression!
I'm NOT going to stay at La Maison Bleue.....I merely investigated it - but decided I could make better use of that kind of money.
I wish I was sufficiently flush to be able to blow a grand on 2-3 day R. & R. without a thought

Maybe others will disagree but im struggling to find any reason (as nice as this place looks) to justify £350 a night!
For us commoners anyway.

In London, or Paris, it wouldn't be at all exceptional.....but it's a bit steep for Egypt! It's for the "money-no-object" brigade.
I expect there are a few others which charge 300 quid plus per night...the Four Seasons in Sharm maybe?
Even the Old Cataract is only around 200GBP.....and deals can be done.

I suppose the old adage here of "something is worth what the buyer is prepared to pay" is relevant, my hotel is important to me but not £350 a night important!

Eat one of those burgers and be like the golden goose that Jack Spriggins nicked off the Giant in Jack and the Beanstalk...

It looks more like one of those piles of rounded horsey poo you sometimes see lying around.

A few months back I was watching my HKN channel, showing a travel log on a region in Japan. There was a restaurant there that served gold leaf ice cream as well as a cut of world class beef that is only available in the particular region. The several 'tasters' of the gold leaf ice cream all said the same, it tasted no different, but something they would never forget and a good story to tell when they returned home. I've always maintained, where there's muck, [or in this case, crap] there's money. Have to say, the topside looked good enough to eat.
For me, the shear bliss of being at home here is priceless.

Watching a TV programme last night on worldwide hotels and the one featured was in Singapore. A 'basic' room there would have cost £350 per night.
