Who could forget two years ago the Egypt Army Engineering Authority announcing to the world that it had developed a machine to cure Hep C and AIDS?

Justice of a sort has now caught up with 5 (non-military?) doctors who publicly endorsed this cruel farce and backed the Army at the time in the media.

The Doctor’s Syndicate, showing some spine and a self interested need to distance themselves from these quacks, have found complaints made out and referred the 5 for a professional penalty.

Encouraging that people in power are being held to account.

Scientific mistakes are one thing but, in this case, every major world medical body said at the time that the alleged cure via electrical current was theoretically impossible and therefore a hoax which must have been known to anyone with medical quals. in this area..

Doctor's get away with murder, literally. See cases of botched FGMs where the girl died (too upsetting to dig up the references).

I'd be surprised if anyone actually suffered as a result of this HIV/HepC nonsense (by ceasing their meds)...it was so widely lampooned at the time. Then again, there are some dumb Egyptian doctors about...and equally clueless patients.

I predict no more than a "warning" by way of "punishment"....if that.

I think that the doctors that endorsed this new method should be given the next new method against the transmission of the above said, cut their ***** off, or in the case of the opposite gender, use a good permanent filler.

Maybe its significant that none of the 5 have been mentioned in the press by name. Maybe their careers will continue undeterred.

But I'm sure you will agree that the basic issue in the story is a good example of non-government organizations standing up to madness. And that's got to be a good thing. The alternative could be SCARF determining medical practice or the basic physiology of the body.

Doctors in name only, not in credentials!
