One of MT's post got me thinking. He was saying about the ambulance and fire services here, their lack of equipment and apparent training.
Not long ago in the UK men, and it was only men then, were called ambulance men they had training in basic first aid now they are paramedics and as first responders are almost if not equal to a doctor. They have received the appropriate training and the ambulances come fully equipped.
Fire personnel too have had to learn much more, they have to deal with chemical incidents, crowd control, as well as attending road accidents and fires.
If you were President of Egypt would these matters be of prime concern for you and if so where would the money come from to fund the re-education and equipping of these services?
Or would you have much more important, to you, things on your plate?

I certainly would.....combating terrorism, internal & external; reconstructing the economy; resolving societal differences between secularists and islamists; all round education etc.etc.

BUT....

I understand from an Ex Fire Officer that Luxor underwent recent training carried out by the London Fire Brigade...

I wonder how many soldiers and policemen fighting terrorism suffer extra injuries by not being properly prepared for transportation to hospital?

When we build we put the foundations in first, to make sure the finished building is strong and safe. This is why I go back to getting the basic essential things in place.

I couldn't agree more MT you must get the foundations right and I'm sorry to say that the appropriate dress and training for ambulance men and fire fighters wouldn't be part of my foundations.
