Egyptair - what a rip off
Having booked my usual 2 week holiday in Luxor I asked my agent to price a weekend in Cairo before continuing my flight to Luxor on the Monday. Whilst they got a good deal from the Ramses Hilton, Egyptair wanted £165 to 'break' my journey. Naturally I said no way.
You would think that Egyptair would bend over backwards to accommodate my request instead of charging all this money.
Sorry Cairo I won't be staying anytime soon.

Re: Egyptair - what a rip off
If I decide to spend some time in Cairo on my way to or from Luxor, I book a multiple destination ticket directly at Egyptair online. It does cost more than a normal roundtrip, but I have never paid as much as £165 extra.
Because of the luggage allowance, I usually do not think that it is worth it.

Look online yourself you can shop around for the best prices based on time of day for the flight to Luxor then call egyptair direct yourself explain that your direct flight has been cancelled (something you did on TA not on here) and as you are now required to transit Cairo you want to make the change. If not try the return I don't know which flight you are on but there are 2 daily from LHR.
You should know travel agents get paid on commision does not always pay for them to find the best deal.

If you were flying Manchester to Cairo, how much extra would a stopover in London cost?

Pleased to read on TA that EGYPTAIR only want 15 to 20 gbp to change the ticket and the rest was the TRAVEL AGENT.

Of course it was.Bombay wrote:Pleased to read on TA that EGYPTAIR only want 15 to 20 gbp to change the ticket and the rest was the TRAVEL AGENT.
I met a girlfriend in Cairo and suggested that since she had some days free, she would come back with me to Luxor this time. She wanted to stay with me on West Bank and join me for a couple of days at Pavillon Winter.
I explained how it would cost her less than spending this time alone at our five star hotel in Cairo, if she would let me help her book online through Egyptair and Hotels4U, like I had done for myself so many times before. She was afraid to trust anyone but her usual agent, and through him it would cost around $250 more.
She chose not to pay for his service and stayed in Cairo.
The agent is still angry with me - I really know how to make myself unpopular.

Yes I owe Egyptair an apology. It was indeed the agent who was charging a fortune. I've decided to take a different flight and got a good package to stay at the Sonesta luxor for a few days before emabrking on the boat.
