the funniest news item of the year from El Ahram has to be one from the past few days, although yes, throughout 2015 there have been some real crackers, especially from their business section.

Apparently, there is a 'memorandum of understanding', (we all know what that means) with the Egyptian Government and China to build the new SIXTH new underground line through Cairo to reduce congestion.

The third route is still under construction, and as for the fourth and five, well they have still to be started. .

Actually, it's not entirely true that the the other lines have not started. They did some preliminary test bores for line 4 about 2 years ago. It may not have been reported on in the news but I did see it with my own eyes. It will happen, as I believe the funding has been arranged, but there were some property confiscations that would need to take place along Pyramids Road that have been holding things up.

Line 2, for your information, was finished 6 months ahead of schedule. Once work starts it progresses pretty fast.

Talking of SCOOPS, maybe there should be some around Luxor!
