This is Ayre St in Clerkenwell 1/2 mile from Fagin's haunt on the Fleet River.
The old girl sitting on the right would now be sitting outside Ben Shermans HQ.
(they still have a lambretta LI 150 in their reception)
And on the opposite side of the road to were the 'copper is standing is The Gunmakers Arms still there still selling great beers.

At the top of the hill on the left is Agent Provocateur's trendy showroom/warehouse and at the bottom Chappels who still make pianos to this day…
A pal of mine once told me that she and her pals' stole cheeses from the back of the Italian deli and rolled them down that hill..

Fascinating....although the connection to Egypt - History & Archaeology is not immediately apparent :)

ah! right well there then is the rub!
'One night whilst visiting Sadlers Wells Theatre just a few ale houses/bawdy houses away 'Lord Carnervon and p***ed party where accosted by a local gang of foot-pads (hoodies) just out-side the Gunmakers down the hill to cross the fleet.
Oh yes! Belzoni 'living locally' performed there as the "Patagonian Samson…
Oh! 'And Jo Grimaldi lived in Exmouth Mkt above Blackfoots restaurant, not that he had anything to do with Egypt, but he was very funny!..
