Egypt's El-Sisi forms advisory council of experts

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi issued a decree on Saturday forming a presidential advisory council made up of academics and experts, Aswat Masriya reported.

El-SIsi held an initial meeting with council members at Ittihadiya presidential palace on Saturday. In a statement the president said the council would have a vital role in advising on national projects, such as the project to create a parallel channel to the Suez Canal, and the project to develop Egypt’s road network.

The president also said that the new council will help aid in correcting religious discourse, improving media discourse and improving the quality of education and linking it to the needs of the market.

Members appointed to the body include Nobel laureate Ahmed Zewail, prominent Egyptian heart surgeon Magdi Yacoub, geologist and former NASA scientist Farouk El-Baz, and president of Microsoft Middle East and Africa Ali Faramawy.

With possibly the exception of the NASA scientist, I fail to see what the others could contribute to the solving of the problems associated to the existing road systems or the digging of a rather large trench. But I suppose that if it goes belly up you can always blame it on the ineptitude of the 'comity.'
