Buried Alive!!!

I have seen quite a few of these grasshoppers (if that's what they are) in what looks like a stunned state, not sure if the flying insect (don't have a name for it) stunned the grasshopper first or just found it dying, no idea why the insect is burying it, maybe for food later, or maybe it has injected it's eggs into the grasshopper. :o

Thank you Keefy for editing my video, over the weekend I'll try and post a clearer picture of the 'beast' from when it buried the second victim a few days later. In total this grasshopper was dragged over 20 feet, at one point the 'beast' did try to fly whilst holding the grasshopper but it must have been too heavy or too large

The 'beast' looks to be on of those black hornets. They anesthetize their victim, drag it into their burrow then inject it with an egg. The victim them becomes a ready food supply while it grows into an adult. Not certain as to whether it forms a chrysalis/cocoon before doing this.

Hmmm...I can think of a few that can be seen. The only problem is you don't know they are parasites until it's too late! ;)
