Do you believe in fate?
Do you believe your life is mapped out and thing's happen because that's how it is meant to be? or do you believe life is what you make it and there is no higher power helping you along. Maybe you believe a bit of both?

Re: Do you believe in fate?
Putting things down to fate, in my opinion, is a vast overstatement. Its like asking a person do you really believe in good/bad luck. Your life is just a trip from A-B, what path or direction you choose to take can create good or bad consequences, but those are made from a conscious free thinking decision, not a higher power. People always use the term I'm just lucky, your lucky etcetera. But its not down to ether or, just the way things happen.
Life is your's to do with as you wish- do not let other's try to control it for you. Count Dusak- 1345.

Re: Do you believe in fate?
Hi Wizard.
In my case it's a bit of both I guess!
I DO believe there's a "higher power"somewhere guiding me through life.If I had nothing to believe in,then I could quite easily have crumpled up and died when I lost the most important thing in my life.
But...something gave me strength!
If this was my "fate"..then "why me?"
On the other hand.."why not me?"
All I can say is that whatever life throws at you..no amount of grieving, anger, bitterness, sadness, etc, will change the situation.
Best advice I was ever given was told to me by a beautiful, gentle Catholic priest.
It was.."If you can't change the situation..then change your attitude towards it. And one day,BREAKDOWN will become "BREAKTHROUGH."
I've never forgotten it,and try to live my life by this message.

You'll never know just how appropriate that piece of advice is to me right now.Scottishtourist wrote:"If you can't change the situation, then change your attitude towards it, and one day soon "BREAKDOWN" will become "BREAKTHROUGH."

Thank you.

Re: Do you believe in fate?
This is related to the other great question you asked Wizard, the other being Fear
Now, I was going to answer that question today, but I think I can answer both here instead..
Life is a repetitive circle, many circles, and we get used to those repetitive pattern's and experinces, it called familiarity.
ALL Fears are a reaction to something you believe to be true. Usually something that comes into your life that you are not used to.
The fear is there to serve you.
Like playing a piano, and one day, you hit a bum key while playing your tune, ( you dont run away from the piano screaming because you hit a bad note, and vow never to play that tune again )
You know that a particular key on your piano needs tuning.. Why ?
Knowledge of what you were doing prevented the fear from making you scream and run away in the case of playing a tune on you piano.
That is what the fear was there to teach you. You have a belief that is out of alignment with who it is that you really are, and that belief needs to change, to be tuned in to the rest of your beliefs which are serving you...
I think that answers both the topics you raised...

I think, BM, that some members may find your excellent post just a little too difficult to grasp.

Sometimes, the bum note was always a bum note, you just have not noticed before, beacuse that was always how you played the tune.
wether this was a tune you were taught or a tune you naturally created..
But with experience you gained playing that tune, you ear is now more in tune to the melody and you now realise something is not quite right with that note.
