He explained to that wonderful man of vision Muhammad Ali that to build a Nile barrage from the stones of Giza was far to costly to transplant, and cheaper to quarry nearer the destined barrage, thereby saving us the only remaining ancient wonder of this world we dwell in..

During the second world war the Americans built lots of prefabricated boats/landing craft,Mr Kilroy was a govt inspector of the prefab parts. As they all looked the same, when he had done his inspection he would write Kilroy was here, so that he would know which parts he had inspected and which he had not. The American soldiers saw this and took it upon themselves to graffiti it anywhere they could. That is the origin of ' Kilroy was here'
