Gardening Question...

I am surprised at the growth of my gardening time, from hidden lawns in derelicts old houses to growing d'herb to replanting the canal opposite me, now I'm a novice So my question is ?
"Sunflower seeds that everybody and their granny chews and spits out the husks, will they grow if I buy a kilo of them or have they been toasted ?
I have no time to try out as space in my new waterside aqua garden is at a premium, answers and water marginal plants greatly received.....
NB: Normal terms & conditions apply 1 x plant = 1 x stella or the equivalent of.....
Ps: I take this gardening thingy very seriously, this is my garden shed it has a sign that say's SHED! it will have a fridge soon..
Pss: if anybody can tell me how to make my pictures bigger as well !
