Janet & John Lesson No 1.

Post by Who2 »

To all Sa'idis (Upper Egyptians)

This... is a canal....
12741

This... is a rubbish bin...
12742

Rubbish goes in this bin not in the canal..It is emptied daily!
In the canal live fish and animals NOT RUBBISH BINS OR YOUR RUBBISH..Sah?
12743

Jeez: "Pulling Teeth is easier....

Over 25 years ago, they used the 'comic-strip' character of Mr Sa'idi on a massive scale to advertise on T.V., the dangers to children of swimming in canals in Upper Egypt. Seems to me there needs to be a similar such campaign to teach the sa'idi's of Upper Egypt, for there are many, that these canals hold enough dangers without adding to them.

The trouble in your area Dr, is the fact that everyone throws their employ drinks cans and bottles over that bridge you live near. Have a word with your local councillor ,............You Know It Makes Sense,...........and also, keep 'em pealed,.....................ASBO's all round.......................Sah.(Arabic = true).

P.S. - Learn a new Arabic word every day, that's what I say.

P.P.S. - Expression is just as important as the spoken word in Arabic, even more so in Sa'idi Land, for example, when you say the word Sah, a somewhat positive jerk forward of the head is needed when saying this word, to ensure you have got your message over to them. You will then realise they have by them repeating the word back to you,...........now, go back to your constituency and prepare for government, god bless that little man.

A difficult lot to educate in many respects... Bit like me.
My teacher thought I was a great reader, I could read ALL the Janet and John books in my skool.
My mother pointed out that I could not read, but as we had all the Janet and John books at home, I had simply memorised them from my mother narrations, and used picture association to recall the sentences...

Egyptian mentailty must be this.

Throw rubbish into canal, it wont effect me because the canal will take the rubbish away from my part of the canal.. :up
what the eye can see the heart can't grieve for..

Now, IF that Nile ran in a huge circle around North Africa, as is claimed by some people, then it would only be a matter of time..

Quote: A Farmer's life is not for me...

Name Meaning: George:
From the Greek name Γεωργιος (Georgios) which was derived from the Greek word γεωργος (georgos) meaning "farmer, earthworker",
itself derived from the elements γη (ge) "earth" and εργον (ergon) "work".
