Ps: 'love this sentence from the daily snail:: "Like a plot out of an Indiana Jones movie, experts are now racing to secure the site called Wadi el-Gharbi, located in the cliffs on Luxor's west bank, before the arrival of so-called treasure hunters and tomb-raiders.

Yes ....typical ill-informed tabloid hyperbole. The search for Herihor et al has been going on for years....ever since the discovery of the royal mummies in DB320 in the 19th Century. Let's hope this report in English doesn't impact on the Luxor mafia otherwise there might well be some sort of gold rush :mo

Incidentally...Herihor was a general in the army of Rameses X1 whom Rameses elevated to High Priest of Amun. Rameses scarpered north and Herihor assumed the role of pharoah in Upper Egypt. Not a wise choice on Rameses' part.....does that sound at all familiar

You're a bit of a dark horse here Newcastle, yer you are right about Ram X1, etc.

Nice to here that Big John as he was known, John Romer I mean, is on his way back to Luxor, hope he still has the stomach to cope with the new ideas and so called rules of digs. It's way back in the old days when he last really worked here. He cared more for restoring what we already have. He even did a lot of work on restoring some of the old dig houses, pity he's going to be disappointed with what has happened, since those day.

John Romer is one of the last of the old school, who knows what is what, up in them their hills, but most of the old Egyptian 'muckers' are dead and gone, who know the fine details, but be sure, if there is any one who is going to find anything NEW, it will be him.

P.S.- Better stock up on the beer at the Ram rest house.
