NOT A MOMENT TO LOSE.
My dear friends at EgyptAir have informed me that their new re-instated direct flights from London Heathrow to Luxor, will start on 17th February. Further to this, I am pleased to inform all, that not only is the flight already sold out, but so is the following week. This was probably aided by the fact that many of the seats were sold under a promotional option.
Having said this, perhaps, this may be a good time for those 'over priced European run establishments', be it restaurants/cafe's or basic accommodation, to nip out, whilst business is slack, and purchase a couple of tins of distepar, and in most places, perhaps maybe a few bottles of Jeye's fluid. Many of theses such places would benefit from a 'scrub and brush up',...........you might not notice how scummy your establishments have become over the past two year, and your friends (if you have any) will not tell you, maybe they realise that some of you are a bit 'touchi',...........however I am sure, your punters certainly will,........with their feet.

Re: NOT A MOMENT TO LOOSE.
As of now (6:46am) there are 3 seats left (at the lowest price) on the 17th of Feb to Luxor. Do I try to change my flight from Saturday (change in Cairo) to the Monday flight but I would loose 36 hours in Egypt and probably have to pay for the change - I'll think about it at work and will find that by the time I get home all the seats will be gone and the decision made for me lol.

Try BB, but l was in their office at Olympia yesterday, and they said they were all gone now, however, if when you enter your details on the internet and then up comes nothing, give their office a ring and they may release one.of their 'reserve' seats.

The other prices £378-£600 aren't showing limited availability so at least another 12 seats available.

You know, like l do, that what they say and what they have are always two different things with EgyptAir , with regards their web site.
What l can tell you, is that by that date, all their internal late evening flights to Luxor from Cairo are back on. I for my sins have to be in Cairo for a couple of days so I know,...........l bet there will be some one on here who will say different.

Good news that they are selling out the flights have been available for quite sometime I know of a few people booked on the first flight. I think Destination Egypt are using this flight.

Re: NOT A MOMENT TO LOOSE.
As the news that Egyptair would be resuming the direct Monday flights from London to Luxor on the 17th of February is not exactly NEWS it should not be too surprising if the flights are selling well and the ones for the 17th possibly sold out or limited availability.
As for the comment ...

I find that to be very much the case with just about any airline website I have used.A-Four wrote:You know, like l do, that what they say and what they have are always two different things with EgyptAir , with regards their web site.

Re: NOT A MOMENT TO LOOSE.
Why would you assume that all such establishments are filthy? I know that the ones Russell owns are kept very clean, with or without visitors, are as most of the other European run one's. Its a British thing. Now if you had said ''some'' of the Egyptian owned ones, then I would agree as I have been into some quite horrendous ones, even with a good visitor number. But as they, the owners, do not visit this forum, you comment is rather lost in transit I think. Unless of course you have personally visited filthy European ones, then perhaps you could place them in the ''places not recommended'' section then we could give these nasty nasher numbers a wide berth.A-Four wrote:My dear friends at EgyptAir have informed me that their new re-instated direct flights from London Heathrow to Luxor, will start on 17th February. I've certainly not come across any 'scummy' European run establishments, although I don't claim to frequent them all. I think that A-Four might be on a bit of as 'wind-up' here. (I hope!).

Re: NOT A MOMENT TO LOOSE.
When I booked my flight out for the 15th of Feb on 13th January there were no direct flights to Luxor on the Monday 17th Feb (and they hadn't been available since I started checking on the 8th) - I checked both Egyptair web site and one or two other sites (trivago, holiday supermarket etc) so unless it was a case of on off on off the direct flights have been showing for less than 10 days.

I take no notice as A Four's posts these days unfortunately tend to be old news or incorrect.

Re: NOT A MOMENT TO LOOSE.
I will say different if the info is different all the late evening flights have always been scheduled with some cancellations, tonight the 22.40 return Luxor to Cairo is cancelled the 12.25am flight to Cairo alternates between an Embraer 70 or a Boeing 737 based on demand. I agree with your comment what Egypt Air says and what it does aren't always the sameA-Four wrote:You know, like l do, that what they say and what they have are always two different things with EgyptAir , with regards their web site.

HOW TO KILL TWO MOCKING BIRDS WITH ONE STONE.
First, when a certain restaurant opened opposite 7Days - 7Ways, many years ago now, l was one of its very first customers there after, l frequented the place quite often, while it was under the management of a young man, who's Christian name begins with L. The mostly absent owner, was spending much of his time either in Hurgarda or the U.K.
When this restaurant moved to its present position, l was still a frequent visitor, although my home was on the W.B. ""May l point you towards a post I wrote on here some years ago". At the beginning of February 2010, l posted a subject under the title of WARNING -Fake 100LE notes. Afterwards l remember reading comments of dis-belief, therefore, on Monday 8th February 2010, at approx 8p.m., l arrived at this restaurant with a dear and trusted member of this site. If I remember, it was a good and enjoyable meal, when l offered to pay, the senior Egyptian waiter, who has been a member of staff, from, l'm sure, the restaurants beginning, readily accepted the fake 100LE note, l gave as part payment. I immediately informed him of his error, to which he was most appreciative. Knowing that the owner of this restaurant was a regular contributor to this site, l asked him to give this LE note to that owner, so that he could post details of on this site, which he agreed. However if any one checks my subject post of that time, unfortunately no such information came through. It is not for l to judge what went wrong with this out come, like it is not for others to judge which restaurants or cafés l am seen going in or going out of. Perhaps some restaurant owners should spend more time in their restaurant, where their service is in far more demand, rather than sat outside attempting to read a newspaper.
I have never recommended a restaurant, cafe, hotel or other on this site, for the obvious reason that most people, have their own idea on taste, either good or bad. My only recommendation with regards all restaurant in Luxor, at the moment, is that, I think it is wise to ask the senior waiter or owner, "What is good", being that no one should believe that a restaurant can offer a full menu, during the present situation in Luxor.

I would also add that asking a senior waiter or owner "What is good" is not a particularly wise idea. It should all be good. Asking what they would recommend or what is the special of the day is a somewhat different matter.

When dealing with an Egyptian waiter or owner, their English can be rather limited, so therefore use very basic English. "What is good" is basic, and very understandable, by any mostly poorly paid staff. To ask "What would you recommend" or "What is the special of the day" , is as YOU say, a some what different matter,.........or then again, perhaps, lost in translation.

How condescending, and not necessarily true (but then possibly you have covered that by the use of 'can'.) I still maintain that it should all be good.A-Four wrote:HEPZIBAH wrote:A-Four wrote:

If you ask the senior waiter or owner "What is good?" how is that going to help you? Taking into consideration your comment '... for the obvious reason that most people, have their own idea on taste, either good or bad.' the menu item/s they suggest could well be something that you would not ever consider. For example, I ate in an Indian Restaurant recently. Had I asked the waiter to tell me what was good he could well have suggested the vindaloo. I however, know that vindaloo is not good - no matter when I visit!

it is what you do with what happens to you.

Then the matter is simple, you leave the said restaurant, without giving an order, and go elsewhere, or do you suffer the slings and arrows of eating something from a fridge that is not up to standard,"............or do we all start singing from the same song sheet.
