Postcard from Baroness Ashton.

It seems to me that this dear lady has had a funny old time in Cairo. Her remit was to try and deliver to her bosses in Europe a blue print for some sort of a democracy in Egypt. Well over the past few days, I think she has seen more officials in that time than Kennedy saw in his whole period as president of the U.S.A., and I do include the 'Bay of Pigs' episode.

First, she wanted Sisi to enter agreement with the Brotherhood, after spitting venom at her, he then informed her that they no longer exist. Then she started talking to him about the democracy the EU would like to see in Egypt, that it should be similar to that in Europe and America. I would imagine that was when he burst out laughing at her, (see photo, some where on the net.) even she had to smile.

For tourist to return to Egypt, Baroness Ashton has to return with some sort of agreement, its not like the old days, where troops would be on the ground, and everything therefore would be dandy. If no agreement is made then there will be no money from either Europe, America or dare I say it the IMF, which Egypt is heavily already in debt to from the end of the Mubarak period.

The first things the ex-pats will learn if there is an agreement, will be that troops on the ground, will change their uniforms, to look more like police officers, and the announcement that the Property Tax is due for payment,............ God forbid it be back dated.

Postscript.

Ashton - Oh, I would love to own a house in Hurgarda.

Sisi - Suppose you would like a sea view.

Ashton - Come to think about it, why not, and..................

Ring any bells from the distant pass,.............Oh Western democracy, where is thy sting.
