Is anyone selling or getting rid of either 2 single or a double bed including mattresses.

No but I went to a carpenter yesterday with my photo of a bed from Ikea, double and he quoted me 1100le to make it, without the matress. I will continue to investigate different places and if I find anything cheaper will pm you. By the way do you know that thhere is a shop behind the tourist souk that sells second hand bedroom furniture.

I presume you told him to get lost Carrie? he is having a laugh, but good for you for not taking up his offer. He has either got too much work or he does not need the money.

I understand there is a place known as Steptoe's by the ex-pat community. Think it's in the TV street area. From what I can gather it sells all sorts of 2nd hand furniture etc including excess items from hotels.

It may be worth you asking around for more information about this place.

Yes, let me know of any good carpenter that could make a run of wardrobes. I just want plain sliding type. I have been to loads of shops in Luxor, but some of them are so so very gaudy, one even had gold quilting to the front. Most of the ready made ones are made of MDF, or are way way too big, especially from front to back. I know I have a lot of clothes, but really don't want it to be the size of a dressing room as well!
Oh., and if any one knows of a establishment that makes wrought Iron furniture, I need a head board, or bed frame made to my design. Cheers!

Maakari, we have a very good carpenter here in Karnak, used him several times will make to your design and style. If you contact me when you are here my friend will take you over to translate for you.

For carpentry you could also consider the Hagaza woodwork training place outside of Luxor. They produce some great things - decorative and practical/furnishing. I'm sure they would work to your specification/design.

Got most of what I want in most things, but few things I want I havent seen here, so thought get 'em custom made. I have pictures of things I want, very simple looks, in plain wood. The only thing I really have'nt seen or heard of is a Wrought Iron establishment. I want nice Bed head as well!

Saw a shop today on my travels that does head boards in iron, go past the train station towards the alcohol shops, on your left hand side is a shop that sells material for galabias down that street, not sure if it is Cleopatra Street. I did call in and ask how much for headboards just out of interest but the boss man was sleeping.

I have got lots of bits to still shop for yet! Just hope the bloody flat is ready! It seems to have taken forever. Stiil it is going to be very well finished off, looks lovely! now just need to be in there!
