Security forces in Qalyubiya governorate on Friday arrested 90 Islamists carrying sticks, Molotov cocktails and gasoline cans en route to a Cairo rally supporting President Mohamed Morsy in Nasr City.

A bus and 3 micro-buses loaded with the 90 Islamists carrying weapons were seized by security forces in collaboration with popular committees at the Kafr Shokr checkpoint, a Qalyubiya Security Directorate statement said Friday.

The vehicles reportedly came from the direction of Daqahlia governorate heading to Rabaa al-Adaweya Square in Nasr City to participate in the protest supporting Morsy, the statement said. Prosecutors was notified to initiate investigations into the incident.

Qalyubiya security chief Major General Mahmoud Youssry was notified that popular committees formed by Popular Current and Dostour Party members to organize traffic on the Banha-Mansoura road inspected the vehicles before discovering the items.

Following the arrests, one vehicle tried to escape and hit two passers-by.

The injured were transferred to hospital. Hundreds of Kafr Shokr residents imposed a cordon around the police station to prevent the arrested Islamists from escaping.

Although for the likes of others and myself we are greatful to people on the ground there in Luxor and other parts of Egypt, who supply information via such organs as Egypt Independant and (the two face) El Ahram, in the past they have been used, therefore we should be careful how we read these papers, as was the case during the troubles.

How you on the ground see things is just as important, if not more so.
