IPad Help
Just had a IPad bought me for Christmas, I want to download some Apps. but it will not let me, telling me to register with ITunes, is ITunes the main brain behind Apple or something? It then goes on to ask you your Credit Card detail, you put them in and the next thing is "Sorry you have not put in your Postcode" What post code? think this is another piece of rubbish that will end up in my wardrobe at the side of my kindle touch until the spring clear out when it will get thrown out. Wish my daughter would stop buying me these pieces of expensive crap.

Re: IPad Help
Often, typing None in the postcode box will work - otherwise try your old UK one.
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!

Re: IPad Help
I don't have an iPad, but do use Macs. iTunes is where you can download music, or load your own CDs onto your iPad and iPod.
In Australia (where I assume she bought it), a postcode is a 4-digit number at the end of your address e.g. Sydney is 2000.
I can highly recommend phoning their technical support people. They are infinitely patient with non-techxpert numpties like me, putting things into easy-to-understand language. She has been incredibly generous (especially if buying in Australia, as we pay way more than the rest of the world for technology, just because we are a long way away ), so don't give up so easily.

Re: IPad Help
I live in Turkey so have the same problem. You need to register with iTunes using a UK address and entering your card details, otherwise you can't access free or paid apps. I've had no problems since registering, and am currently accessing new apps whilst I'm in Luxor.

Apple, Welcome to the world of commercialism, when you will always have your hand in your pocket..
All those 99 pence apps for this and for that do add up after a while.. Never mind the Essential Software upgrades that will appear in time.. for a price..

My daughter was in the UK for Christmas WI and bought it in England. She arrived back in Australia yesterday after meeting up with my wife there.

Re: IPad Help
I was a 4 year Apple Iphone user, ive just changed to Android (samsung galaxy s3) about 3 months ago.
I must say that I prefered the Apple apps and the far better quality of control of there apps to the Android Apps, Google dont seemed to have much rules in place, even though many apps are free on the Google play store they contain ads (which is ok, cause the game/app is free) but many abuse it and have ads popping up in notifiactions and even on your home screens etc.... No wonder people download cracked apps that have the ads removed)
I had no problem accessing the Apple App store from Egypt, I just signed up with a UK address, however things might have changed cause on the Android many games/apps and I meen a big bulk of the google play games/apps is not available in Egypt, maybe apple have followed suit. I have a market faker installed on my android to alter where I live, yet I had to root my phone to enable this, you probably have to jailbreak your Ipad to do the same.

CE - I wouldn't bother with the IPad they are too much trouble but instead of throwing it into the wardrobe I'll take it off your hands for 10 whole English pounds and I'll give you a fiver for your Kindle.

Re: IPad Help
BB I never pass anything on unless its been under my foot, just in case people have better information than myself, normally I pass things on that have springs and smashed screens and are useless, need less to say they are free...
I have entered and English address, and post code, but they they read I am operating from Egypt, if I sign in from Egypt they do not recognise the Egyptian Post Code. Starting to think Apple are a pile of Donkey C--p, expensive stuff with no guts.
WI my daughter has always been generous with me and my wife and that's because we brought her up right, now she appreciates what we did while she was young and is paying us back I suppose for what we spent of college and Uni fees, but we have had presents from her in the form of a laptop, motorcycle, kindle and now this useless piece of Apple rubbish, she is a very kind and appreciative person, but technology and me go no further than lighting the gas oven, or changing a light bulb.
There must be someone out there who knows what I can do? Even Apple have got such an enclosed market everything is done by expensive international calls, no e-mails... It will not even allow me to download Hot Shield to hide my IP number.

Re: IPad Help
Download and Install Itunes on your PC, afterwards plug your Ipad into the computer, I dont know what comes first, it might ask you to authorise the Ipad on your computer (if so, do it) or first it might ask you to register a new account, if nothing happens, click on store (top menu in Itunes) and click create an account, enter your details (use a UK address). for country/region choose United Kingdom.
It worked for me.

Re: IPad Help
If your Ipad originates stateside you'll need a 5 number postal code - i.e. 14488 (AND the code has to be a valid one as correct US codes are built into ipads/cell phones/kindles etc.
If for some unknown reason the postal code is referring to a Canadian code it has to be Letter/number/letter space number/letter/number
Just thinking of all the telephone and cell numbers one uses these days, plus PIN #, passwords and on and on it really IS mind boggling

Re: IPad Help
It should have come with one... Look at the electrical plug, the lead going into that should be a usb lead which you can remove from the electrical plug and plug that into your usb on your pc, the other end is what plugs into your phone. (while plugged into a PC it charges the ipad too).Chocolate Eclair wrote:Thanks Keefy, first I need to buy a USB lead, but will try it and let you know Thanks

Re: IPad Help
Got it sorted now everyone, but took a lot of perseverance, Nowadays the IPad comes with a charger lead only, I believe the IPhone comes with a USB lead though.
The IPads are all wi-fi and they are capable of being synced to any wi-fi computer in your home so now can download from anything.
But my God the new tech things really need perseverance, they come with a OU warning, stating that BA required to operate this machine.

Re: IPad Help
For CE - if ITunes gift cards are available in Egypt these might be an alternative to giving your credit card details and any problems with postcodes. They are pre-paid cards issued by Apple and give you credit on ITunes. You would still need to have already established a Apple/ITunes account to load the credit onto. I'm not the person to give advice on establishing an account.
