Crystal henge ? Anyone know of it's significance ?

Henge, Stone Circle, Cairn, whatever you call them.

Whilst visiting Llandrillo again a few weeks ago, I usually hike up to a stone circle in the mountains.

I went on my own on this particular occasion, and whilst looking around the landscape,
I realised that there was another circle not far from the main cirlce. It is really hard to spot.
So I wandered down there and started to uncover the stones. ALL the stones were Quartz, which is common to that area. I would also say that this circle is maybe as old if not older than the stone circle.

I also found a spring that was well hidden nearby. it is covered with some very large rocks and boulders..

So, does anyone know what the significance would be, making a circle from Quartz rather than stone.. ?

Don't ask me how I know this (and I could well be wrong) but something in the back of my mind is telling me it's something to do with the moon and moon phases and also that quarts holds and reflects light.

Thanks for that HEPZIBAH :up I will try to investigate that avenue of enquiry.
I have heard that people "charge" certain types of crystals in the moonlight, and some in the sun.

Sorry meant quartz!

No idea where I've dredged this up from but think some henge, circles etc are of the local stone and then somehow there are large quartz key/standing stones that are from huge distances away.
And...something even more vague...think somewhere one of the circles (or possibly a very old church) has a sort of ancient pathway of the quartz stones.

I really do know little about a lot and even less about the rest!

Well, the Church wouldn't surprise me. They nicked all our Sacred Sites..

One day, I was at a pub, and I got the feeling I was close by to something special.
I took a walk through the Church, past the Yew tree's and out through the back gate through a small wood with a stream running by it.

Sure enough...

In case you've not come across...

Duloe Stone Circle,
Duloe
Cornwall's only example of a quartz stone circle. The site features eight quartz stones, though to be the remnants of a retaining kerb for a burial mound. Cornwall's smallest stone circle.

About the Use of Quartz in Burial Traditions
mineral quartz was used by superstitious people as a lucky stone for grave burials and as a talisman with protective powers
It is most interesting to note that the superstitious use of these objects in burials was so widespread as to prove that it must have been due to some inherent property or properties in white stones, and especially in pebbles of white quartz, which appealed very strongly to the mind of primitive man. That, as has been noted above, the conception of purity should be associated with whiteness, in its contrast to any obscure color, is natural enough, and rests upon the association of spotless cleanliness with moral purity, and very probably the sparkles of light emitted by a bright piece of quartz, normally or on percussion, brought this material into some connection with the worship of fire, or of fire-gods. To another possible conception along the same lines we have already alluded.

•Boscawen-Ün(Boscawen Oon) Grid ref. SW412274
A fine Bronze Age stone circle consisting of 19 granite uprights surrounding a leaning 2.4 metre stone set just off-centre. The 'female' stone indicating the western boundary is a large quartz stone that glistens brightly on a sunny day. The circle is set about 1 mile north of St. Buryan just off the main Penzance to Land's End road (A30). It is just over ½ mile west of The Blind Fiddler (Grid ref. SW425281) - an impressive Bronze Age mênhir or standing stone some 3 metres tall. Technical Information: Circle Diameter 21-24m

Something else I've just remembered (but still no real idea where from!)...crystals have their own unique cell structure and different crystals supposedly 'vibrate' or have a different resonence. Different types of quartz resonate slightly differently but I think it's the clear quartz (hmm or is it the rose) that is supposed to have most energy.

.Maybe worth you looking up a gem stone site. Certainly various quartz are very popular at the moment for jewellery - both the 'folksy' type and the more designer 'gemstone' type!

A couple of friends of mine in Devon are strongly connected to the Wiccan faith. The male half told me a few years ago that they once came upon a bronze age standing stone that had toppled over and decided to re-erect it. On doing so, however, they both heard a strange "warbling" sound from somewhere and the female found herself unable to pull her hands from the stone for some moments. Something to do with the "energy lines" on which such megaliths are sited on, apparently.

I went with a Lady to Moel Famau.. ( Great Mothers Mountain )
She had to stay inside the monument for an hour before she could get out..

Luckily it wasn't raining, so I did the 1 mile walk to Moel Arthur while she did her thing.

I think I need to return to said Cairn in Llandrillo. Maybe on Monday :tk
