Went to Hosny's near the railway station today for some Stella and a bottle of Omar Khyam Red, I asked how much he was selling Stella for and he replied, how much do you normally pay, well I said on the West Bank 9le, he wanted to charge me 10le similar to Sindbads but minus the Sindbad Tax so did not mind really, and paid him 10le and went away happy, then asked him about the wine, again he said how much do you normally pay, I said around 46le give or take a pound, he said oh no not any more the price has gone up considerably, thought that was strange I only bought one 3 days ago, for my normal price, he then said 65le, I said have you got a stutter, he said No Why, i said you will have wanting to charge that amount, so went to the shop 20 metres away and bought it for 47le.
But whats all this asking how much do you normally pay? What a cheek, its his price i was asking not anyone elses. Anyway walking back with my purchase I just popped in to show him it and declared the price to him, thought he was going to have a ceasure!!
Again another shop taken off my shopping list, what a cheek! And in future its the other shop I will use.

Re: Hosny's wine and beer shop
Strange - a friend of mine went there last week to buy some cans of Stella - he apologised that the price had gone up due to Al Ahram brewery raising its prices. There was a printed price list on the wall, and the price he paid was that on the price list! (8LE if I recall correctly)
I might agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong!

L in L a lot of things is what you are happy to pay, if i can gets things cheaper than the West Bank I shop in Luxor, forunatly I do not drink Stella, but needed some for guests, on the West Bank I have always paid 11le for a bottle so 10le to me was cheaper. The Omar Khyamm was a real rip off at 65le, I can buy this on the West Bank for between 46-50le, so another 15le is unacceptable.
And this sudden thing of saying how much do you normally pay is gross to me, especially when its his business that you are enquiring from, whats it got to do with him how much I normally pay. If you ask someone a price you expect to hear what the trader wants for the goods not what you pay from someone else, this gives you the opportunity to say yes or no.

Do you know if they still do the dark Nubian stout? There was another as well, small can about 8% began with an A- Aro-or- oro perhaps? These were good beers for me and although I don't drink, I may be persuaded to get one or two of these, just in case of visitors you understand
