Favourite author?
Do you have a favourite author? If so, what is it that attracts you to their writings.
Experience is not what happens to you;it is what you do with what happens to you.

Re: Favourite author?
Terry Pratchett!
Love the fantasy, especially the novels where the three witches are the central characters!
Always take one of his books to Luxor with me to read at the pool.
"Witches Abroad" is personal favourite, and I can truly identify with Nanny Ogg!I had an auntie just like her!
Just love his sense of humour!

He's campaigner for Alzheimers now, being in early stages of the illness.

Re: Favourite author?
I like authors who set their books in places I know. For example I like Paul Sussman's books because they're mystery/adventure books mainly set in Luxor; I like an author called Stephen Booth because his murder mystery books are set in the Peak District which I know well from living in Sheffield for many years; I like Aileen Armitage because all her books are set in Huddersfield where I was born and grew up. I particularly like murder mysteries because Im hoping to pick up a few tips.

Re: Favourite author?
I love Jodi Picoult. Her books cover really hard hitting topics and are really well researched and most are gripping from start to end. I was lucky enough to hear her speak last year. Such a bubbly character.
My fave of hers is My Sister's Keeper. (a film was made...but she had nothing to do with the film and they changed the ending)

Re: Favourite author?
Nor me as I didn't think it did the book justice. But I thought I'd mention it in case others are interested in seeing it and/or comparing.Lisak wrote:Won't be watching!

Re: Favourite author?
I enjoy Jodi Picoult too.
Find though that I can only read her books intermittantly!
I like to read some Terry Pratchett in between times to counter the intensity of her stuff.
Favourite was the "Amish"one,Plain Truth,I think it was called.
Didn't read My Sisters Keeper...watched the film though.
Don't think I could watch it again.....much too sad!

Me and my other half have been reading a series of murder, mystery books about Amelia Peabody - they all have one thing in common: Egypt! The author is Elizabeth Peters.
Here are some of Amelia's "Peabodyism's"
