I can hear the Angels sing...

They were discussing karkade on another thread, which inspired me to make myself a very strong pot with a cinnamon stick and muscovado sugar, the way I like it. It was soooh good!
I went for a walk on this beautiful Danish summer evening and got caught in the rain, so when I came home, I heated up, what I had intended to enjoy chilled tomorrow. The wind from my balcony gave me a wonderful – medical, of course – excuse to generously add some dark Cuban rhum…
Oh, my God! When I return from Luxor for Christmas, I am going to make sure to bring enough karkade for the snowy days…
I went to my kitchen for more, feet up - and now Norwegian TV is showing a programme about the Kingdom of Nubia! I just had to go online and share!
:cuppa: Wonder , what I have done to deserve this...

Miss you too, FabLux!
Pretending that I was in Luxor this afternoon, I began squeezing lemons for a refreshing lemonade. I remembered that I had enjoyed delicious ginger lemonade in London last week, so before I knew it, fragrant Spanish lemons, fresh ginger and vanilla filled the air in my little home. Later I poured some of my lemon ginger vanilla sirup over ice cubes in a beautiful glass, with the intention of adding cold tap water, but as I opened the fridge to put back the jar – I swear a bottle of champagne landed in my hand…
I am no longer pretending to be in Luxor! Champagne/ginger/vanilla lemonade is not bad at all!

'I can hear the Angels sing.'
Sounds like a very good name for the new cocktail you have created.
I keep thinking it would make a very good title for a book too.

(That was last year.)
I love the flavor of coconut, and I shall never forget the first time I had a glass of
sobia – the delicious Ramadan coconut milk drink - in Cairo.
Last week I got myself a bag of coconut powder that smelled promising all the way back from the store. You are supposed to mix half a liter of full fat milk with three tablespoons of sugar and two tablespoons of the stuff. I put sugar in a shaker with enough boling water to melt it, added some ice cubes to cool and mixed it with the coconut powder and milk. It was very good, but as I do not really like milk, I simply used water instead of milk the second time, and I liked that much more.
On this beautiful day I prepared a shake adding a just a tiny pinch of vanilla and cinnamon, and only a little water. I would leave it in the freezer and mix it with more water at sunset, but then I thought that without the milk I would not get enough nutrition, so when the coconut mix had turned to slush, instead of more water, I filled it up with some really good rhum! I’m telling you, it was diiiiiiivine! It tasted like Batida di Coco - only better!
Tomorrow I’ll get some pineapple juice.

Oh, but Lisak, the rich body of a good dark rhum is half the magic!
