Cute !

I like snails and so does my little girl

they are great photos Horus. I couldn't better them, sorry
Before anyone thinks differently I mean we like to look at snails, we do not like to eat them

Oh good, someone else who likes them
Did you know that the ones in the picture are the edible snails as introduced by the Romans? According to some chefs they are far superior to the much vaunted 'escargot' of ze French variety
Just collect them up and put them in a bucket with Rocket Lettuce for about a week to clean them,

but on a more personal basis, I would rather have hot needles stuck in my eyeballs than eat one.

We used to have loads of them in our garden, my son used to play races with them.

We used to have races with them when we were kids too, we made special tracks and even painted numbers on their backs with nail varnish! There are lots of the stripy 'humbug' variety in my garden at the minute which I think are rather pretty.

Mmm, nice pictures you guys

but I should have been stricter with the definition of 'shell'
And Ken! how many of those can you get in a bucket full of Rocket Lettuce?

Thank you Horus! Have NO idea 'why' I cannot ever seem to get anything to show up as a photo on here! BUT that is my 'shell' contribution!

LLL, just ‘open’ the picture you want from the album.
Now place your cursor in the text box beneath the picture making sure it is at the
extreme right of the text, ie past the last
[/img] bit of text.
Hold down your left mouse button and swipe your cursor as far left as it will go
until all the text turns white. (You should have included the
[/img] bit of text at each end)
Now
right click your mouse and select the option
‘Copy’
That’s it, you are done with the album, you may close it.
Go to your new post and
left click your mouse anywhere in the message box where you want your picture to appear, for example beneath a line of text that you have written.
Now,
right click your mouse and select the option
‘Paste’ and your line of code for the picture should be pasted into your post.
Tip: At this point go to the
‘Preview’ option below your message and click it. This will show you how your new post will look when it is on the forum, if you don’t see your picture, you have done it incorrectly so try again.
If you see it OK in the ‘Preview’ then select the
‘Submit’ option.
Hope this helps

Its snail time here now, whole families are out every evening collecting them. We keep them in carrot sacks with twigs propping the sack out. They are clean after a week and can be eaten --NOT BY ME- - YUK. This is a handy source of income as they can be sold to the bars, measured by a litre mug - -

Jayway, you must tell me the Portuguese for ‘snail’
Heaven forbid that in a drunken reverie on the Algarve, I should ask for a litre of snails instead of beer!

Oh nice, Never seen them with their shells on. The ones that invade my house are shellless.

Snail is CARACOL --Snails are CARACOIS. This time of year all the bars have placards up -HA CARACOIS-( here snails) -you get a saucerfull and a toothpick to enjoy(?) with your drink. Its nice to have a small child sat next to you, tedious to pick them out yourself !

Thanks for that Jayway

I now have a sign in my garden that says "HA CARACOIS" for the benefit of the birds
Talking of having them with a drink, have you noticed how attracted to beer your typical snail seems to be? sink a plastic coffee cup into your garden soil, half fill it with beer or lager, leave it overnight and it will usually be full of drowned, drunken snails by the morning.

YUK ! I never have any beer to spare as all my out-of-date crates are used to soak my mares sugar-beet. Beer gives her a lovely shiny coat - hows your hair, Horus ?
