Of Broken Dolls and Crystal Glasses.
Of Broken Dolls and Crystal Glasses.
Watch the procession of broken dolls and wooden solder boys,
Of dreams and wishes unrequited yet,
Ah, to be young again and carefree,
If those words hold any meaning, then let them be.
For what is youth if not a time spent chained to fancy,
Eyes barely opened, mind barely responsive to the world,
Of values each of many subtle shades of right and wrong,
What is the true worth of innocence?
The dolls have eyes of glass, reflecting our inner thoughts,
All homogeneous, all the alike,
All pretences similar, all lies the same,
Their eyes are yours and mine,
Their's lifelessness but ours detachment.
The broken dolls, their limbs contorted into grotesque angles,
Some torn off, but all equally damaged,
Wooden soldiers lie broken too, with damaged limbs untended,
All reminders of something that we all wanted that was never there,
That never could have been, because we never tried to make it so.
The dolls sip the champagne of perpetual disappointment,
Tasting the sorrow of life in a facade,
A clever portrayal, enacted of for the sake of nostalgia,
Or else, for the sake of our memories,
So they will not fade, not in out time at least,
And so we live out the same tired lies as our fathers,
We stare at our own reflections in each other’s eyes,
And believe that there is nothing better than this.
We walk the same streets each day,
Eat the same food, as we ate before,
Exchange the same mind numbing banalities,
For some semblance of belonging.
And creatures of habit though we are,
There is nothing, absolutely nothing,
That could force us into this state,
Where we watch the endless procession of time.
Minutes, hours and days; weeks, months and years,
Praying to the gods that a change may come,
That there might be something more than this,
There are no omnipresent beings, too soon we come to realise.
There are no governing laws, save our own,
That we must always slaveishly obey,
We have brought this upon ourselves,
And that is why children's dolls and soldier boys will always break.
And the fine crystal of the glasses that we drink champagne from,
Will always fail to distract the fact that in our mouth is left a bitter taste,
Why tears can never take away the pain of a broken heart,
And why our differences will always seem more important.
Ever more important than what we have in common.
It is our nature, and we would not have it any other way.

You will Zeitgeist given time. Look at it as through the eyes of a child and think simple thoughts as you slowly read.Zeitgeist wrote:Still trying to get my head around some of that one Wiz' .
Give it time..
Another new Avatar Wiz' ? although you do not seem to have established an "age" for this one
Yes, another Wizard Avatar. Keefy was good enough to gather them for me some time ago. He really is a lovely man, it seems ungrateful not to air them all from time to time..
