This is the museum of Egyptian culture and includes faurly recent exhibits. Do I take it that the Tahrir museum continues to function as ancient Egypt? For some reason I was under the impression that the new museum was to replace the old one, but I confess that having not been to Egypt for nearly 10 years I am a bit out of touch........
I think the idea was for it to become a centre of excellence for teaching egyptology, with rotating exhibitions of artefacts. There is also some question over the ownership of its gardens...immensely valuable real estate.

That was fantastic Newcastle, the walking tour, I long to go and visit. Maybe next year.
