If we think about it logically, rats could well be on the increase in many places because of the closures and little human movement to disturb them.
Once humans move back in to areas eg a market place, there is likely to be lots af rats poo around which when swept up or touched can spread Hantavirus into the air.

There is another, fairly common, disease - Weil's disease - caused by contact with rats urine. I wonder if that is the other disease that is being talked about.

Two important points with regard to Hantavirus...which has been known for more than 50 years.

1. It’s very rare

2. There’s no evidence of human to human transmission.

It is contracted from ingesting the bodily fluids of mice/rats. Unless you eat them raw, it’s pretty unlikely you could be infected.

Yesterday I ventured outside to do my mega survival shop. Bought enough food for 6 mo the for the cats, enough food for me for 5 months. Would of bought more but my freezer is not large enough. The streets where quieter than usuall, but still active. There were many shops open that did not sell pharmaceuticals and food. A very heavy police vehicle presence was seen. The banks are on restricted opening, get scanned as you enter and hands sanitized with a 70% alcohol spray. Opening times are 9.am until 1.30pm. Only saw one person with a face mask on, an Egyptian guy. So, I'm now safely contained within my walls, protected from the C.V but not the flies. At least I'm lucky enough to have a nice garden to sit in. My immediate neighbour's are still congrigating on the side street outside my home at night, kids running around until around 10pm. A few guys now sit on the plinth outside my front bedroom window smoking the shiesha, filling my home with a thick stench, so if the virus don't get me, the shiesha will. Stay safe and take note of the heavy restrictions now in place, they are there your yours and others well being.
