In later life she has sung French chansons and a bit later German songs from the 20's - with a lot by Kurt Weill. The voice is now very deep, nasal and smokey and not fine but her interpretation of these great and gritty songs is more atmospheric and therefore better than anyone else at the moment - in my opinion.

Here is one - there are quite a few on Youtube.

Her life was hard and her heroin addiction severe.

Not to be confused with her (alleged) addiction to Mars Bars. ;)

Like I said a commune, they just change the wording. Latin conventus, perfect participle of the verb convenio, meaning to convene, to come together..... 8)

If you've seen Ken Russell's film " The Devils" you'll know there isn't much difference between some convents and some communes.

Bet you didn't know that for quite a few years an actress that stared in that film, on bended knees, lives in Karnak. Obviously she had few lines to speak, more of a gargle

Oh yes I did, I always seemed to see her in the Karnak area. Very pleasant lady. It was only when I looked her up on Google just now to make sure I was thinking of the right person that I discovered her original name. No wonder she changed it - parents can be very unkind.
