The True Ancients were cleverer than the ones we know. The ones we know simply claimed ownership of many of the engineering fete's accomplished.
This is why they could not give Plato, Herodotus and his likes, the answers they sought, and I think Plato sussed them out quite quickly.
The Ancients we know were devolving rapidly, as the knowledge was being lost either through the lowering of consciousness or corruption.
So, A desert when the Exodus happened, and this is supposedly just a couple of hundred or so years after Tut was hunting lions on a lush Savannah ?..
